Kinder Beat is unique in that children are introduced to basic rhythm and pitch notation in preparation for our Junior Piano Programme at age 4.

  For 4-6 year olds

Junior comprises all the elements required to develop aural, musical and technical skills for the young beginner pianist. Grouped in age in small classes.

Junior is specifically designed to encompass a wide range of musical activity in short segments, which enables concentration levels to be kept at the optimum during the lesson. A focus on developing a musical ear accelerates the process of achievement. Our classrooms are equipped with a Digital Piano for each student in the classroom, as well as a full range of Percussion Instruments. Magnetic Music Boards for all students simplify theoretical work and all piano pieces are learned with the additional support of Speed Variable Backing Tracks.

In each 45 minute weekly lesson, the students experience:

  • Piano Tuition – technical development, with solo and ensemble experience
  • Aural (Ear) – to train the musical ear for faster comprehension
  • Singing – pitch and vocal expression through original, contemporary songs
  • Percussion – practical experience of learned rhythmic patterning
  • Theory – intellectual confirmation of music notation and theoretical elements
  • Music Appreciation – to develop listening skills and through actions understand musical structure
  • Musical Games – Fun activities involving learned skills

A Parent or Carer sits beside each student and assists with discipline, motivation, and class participation.
Students must have a Piano/Digital Piano/Keyboard for home practice from the first lesson.
All teachers have undertaken specialized national training to teach this course.
Classes have a maximum of 10 children per group.
Siblings are welcome in morning Classes, but are not able to participate.
Because of the need for silence to maximize the Aural learning activities, siblings are only permitted in afternoon Classes with prior approval.

Children from the age of 7 who’ve had no or minimal previous musical experience begin at Primary.

  For 7-9 year olds

Primary is for students with no previous experience in piano tuition. The focus primarily is to teach the piano as the practical instrument, while simultaneously developing strong aural and theoretical skills. Grouped in age in small classes.

Teaching in a group environment for this age is particularly beneficial from the learning perspective, as the students enjoy learning together and aspire to reach standards set by one another. With regular home practice, the students fly through this curriculum and can feel progress from the early stages, which in turn encourages them to continue through to more advanced levels.

The course includes:

  • Aural – to develop a musical ear both melodically and rhythmically
  • Finger Zips, Finger Taps, Rhythm Taps – to develop technically
  • Repertoire – graded pieces covering all musical styles
  • Harmony – practical understanding of harmonic processes
  • Ensembles – to enjoy playing different parts as a group
  • Theory – consolidation theoretically of music and rhythmic notation and additional music elements
  • Music Appreciation – to analyse popular and musical classics
  • Musical Games – to enjoy testing learned skills through fun activities
  • A comprehensive musical education developing not just the technician but also the musician!

Parents and Carers do not have to attend after the age of 7, but may sit beside their child to assist with discipline, motivation, and participation.
Because of the need for silence to maximize the Aural learning activities, siblings are only permitted in afternoon Classes with prior approval.
Students must have a Piano/Digital Piano/Keyboard for home practice from the first lesson.

Children who’ve completed the Junior or Primary course are eligible for our Achiever Classes.

 Achiever Classes

Achiever Course is for graduates of Junior, Primary, or Accent on Piano classes, to further expand the musical and technical skills being developed. The students learn to become more musically independent and work at a more comprehensive level. The course covers Repertoire, Technique Development, Solfege, Aural Concepts, Harmonic Extension, Theory Worksheets, Ensemble and Individual Practical Work.

All musical styles of Repertoire with an Expanded Technical Development program are covered at this level.  This, together with the acquired Musical Awareness, enables the teacher to work with the students in a broader field including Composition, Improvisation, Keyboard Harmony and Extended Theoretical Components. Many students will present for the AMEB Theory Exams, having completed the set Syllabus for this level in the Extension curriculum.

Our main aim is to foster a love of music using the piano as the practical instrument, however some students have been successful in attaining very high levels of musical achievement. They have received scholarships to tertiary institutions, awards in music competitions which has led them towards a career path in various fields of music.

Comprehensive, contemporary and interactive, group music education for students of all ages.
Courses are specifically designed for each age group from 2 years and from age 4 to 12, piano tuition is integrated into our course curriculum.  We teach all musical styles and aim to develop the musician through diversity in our musicianship programs. Our music classes are fun and effective. Students are grouped in small classes according to age and taught by talented and friendly teachers. After completion of the group courses, students may choose to continue their music education in individual lessons through our schools, studying for leisure or alternately working to reach the highest level of achievement through to advanced levels. We teach music as a language: What you hear you sing; what you sing you play; what you play you read; what you read you write.
